In celebration of the season, Thomas C. Foster, author of "How to Read Literature Like a Professor: A Lively and Entertaining Guide to Reading Between The Lines," will offer his humorous and insightful remarks on the role of dining, parties, and community in books, poems, plays, and the arts. Literature provides us with myriad examples of eating, celebrating holidays, and gathering to enjoy friend and family. Those occasions, in books as well as in life, range from the dismal to the sublime.

This event will include a book signing and copies of Professor Foster's new book provided by Shaman Drum Bookshop. Thomas Foster is a professor of English at the University of Michigan-Flint, where he teaches classic and contemporary fiction, drama andpoetry, creative writing, and composition.

Sorry the blue lettering made it hard to see that the talk is on 12-10 from 7-8:30 pm at Ann Arbor Library's downtown branch in their multi-purpose room (basmt). Downtown library is at 343 S. Fifth Avenue.
